June is National Iced Tea Month!
Making iced tea is as easy as just brewing the tea and adding the herbs. You can add the herbs while the tea is brewing or steeping. It depends on how strong you like it. When the tea finally cools down, strain out the herbs if you like and sweeten to taste. If you add ice to the tea to cool it just after brewing, make your tea stronger (so when the ice cubes melt, the tea won’t be watered down). Add extra pizzazz to your iced tea… put a leaf or two of the herb with an edible flower in the water when you freeze ice cubes. Another tasty way to finish your ice cubes is to add freshly squeezed lemon juice to the water before freezing.
Below are some herbs that work nicely to make that perfect summer iced tea. Enjoy!
- Spearmint
- Peppermint
- Pineapple Sage
- Lemon Balm
- Lemon Verbena
- Chocolate Mint
- Stevia, (for sweetening)

You can grow beautiful containers and beds fast and easy with these plants. The Wave Petunias have great attributes: some grow low and are spreading while other spread nicely and have a little more height. You can plant them just about any place you want loads of bold color.
The two main types we usually have in stock are the Wave and Easy Wave Petunia. All wave petunias like a full sun exposure, a good soak (which is more beneficial than a "shallow" watering) , an occasional cut-back to rejuvenate the plant, and being well fed for best performance. Also, avoid getting the foliage wet going into night.
Here are descriptions of those we’ll carry at Orchard Nursery through the summer season.
Colors: White, red, pink, blue, purple, and salmon
Easy Wave:
Height: 6- 10”
Width 24 – 36”
Wave:
Height: 4-6”
Width 36-48”
