This stately lily is a classic symbol of Easter. The white blooms are trumpet shaped and wonderfully fragrant. These usually last from 1-2 weeks in bloom. A cool environment (50-60 degrees F.) will help to extend the flowering period while the plant is indoors. Keep the soil moist; however, allow the soil to feel dry before watering thoroughly. Moderate temperatures are ideal, 65-70 degrees F.
To enjoy your Easter lily in the garden, cut off stems and leaves when they are no longer green. In mid-spring, plant the bulbs outdoors in a sunny area with well-drained soil. Fertilize with a water-soluble plant food for flowering plants such as Master Nursery Bud and Bloom.

Hardy perennial, makes an attractive ornamental in the border or vegetable garden. Large leaves are toxic—use only the fleshy stalks which are pulled (not cut) from the base of the plant.
Rhubarb likes sun (light shade helps in hot areas), rich, deep, well-drained soil and ample water as new growth starts.
Come in today and pick some up!! Two varieties we have in stock are:
'Victoria'- This popular greenish-stalked "pie plant" is also excellent for preserves and will produce for up to 20 years with reasonable care. Calculate one to two clumps per family
Glaskin Perpetual Rhubarb- A great tart rhubarb; the greenish 12 - 14" stalks never get bitter. Reputed to have the lowest concentration of oxalic acid. Plants grow to 24" tall and are quick to mature. Try combining with strawberries in a dessert soufflé or pie.

Last Week's Question:
This was a 2 part question; first identify this plant, then how it got its name.
ANSWER:
- Plant name = Gerbera jamesonii
- The "gerber" part of the name is in honor of a German naturalist, Traugott Gerber, who collected plants on the Danish peninsula. "Jamesonii" is for another plant collector who discovered the plant in the Transvaal area of South Africa. This plant is, at times, referred to as a Transvaal daisy.
Congratulations to our winner:
